Boys Before Flowers – the Korean version of F4
I’m back to watching Korean dramas again. After consulting the crunchyroll.com forums, it has been voted that one of the most anticipated dramas this 2009 is Boys Before Flowers – the Korean live version of the Japanese anime Hana Yori Dango. Thanks to mysoju.com, I’m able to watch the latest episode of this drama series.
What’s Hana Yori Dango? It is the story of a middle-class girl who got in a fancy elite school and was able to cross path with the elite group of the school named Flower 4. Flower 4 or F4 are gods in the school – rich, handsome, and powerful. The leader took an interest on the heroine and the series depicts their school life/adventures together.
Hana Yori Dango has been brought to fame when Taiwan made a live version of it. Remember Meteor Garden and the famous real life F4? I remembered that almost all the girls in the Philippines were so fanatic about those 4 guys. From concerts to movies to music to pictures – we were hoarding them! Japan also made a live version of this series. I couldn’t say any review on it since I didn’t really watch it. I was turned off when the guys look girly and not too appealing. They were not at par with Taiwan’s F4.
Now Korea is the latest country to do a remake of this story. From the promotional posters, the F4 guys look cute! I’ve already watched the latest 2 episodes. Some details of the story are changed but the story’s formula is still there. The drama production is really good. Having watched the previous Meteor Garden, I kind of anticipate the sequence of events of each episode that somehow the Korean version is not as funny and endearing as the Taiwan’s version (but I guess it’s still too early to tell). My only wish is that the heroine should have been Yoon Eun Hye because I believe she can bring out the CUTE factor of the character! Do you think that Korean’s F4 loosely resembles Taiwan’s F4 in looks? Hmm…

i love boys before flowers. the scenes are soooooooooo much better than the taiwanese version.
but when it cums to looks, i’d still choose Hua Ze Lei rather than Ji Hoo in the korean version.
but both korean and taiwanese version are good.:)
(never mind the japanese version, it sucks. no match to the korean and taiwanese versions.)

im a very avid fan of F4 and that very brave girl..hehehe
ehmpf..if im going to create an order of what version id like most..this is the following order:
1. boys before flowers
2. meteror garden
3. hana yori dango
but i have a comment to hana yori dango…
although the HANA YORI DANGO is difinitely the origin of tha 3 versions…i really dont like the characters especially the cast because they can’t catch the taste of the asians in looks..
i really love the korean and taiwanese version..

all of them are good because each has their own version and theme and taste and depth
for those who keep bashing the looks of the nonkorean actors…..it seems like the whole thing is just about the looks -_-

youre missing out if u didnt watch the japanese live… it was REALLY good.. and in my opinion better than the korean and taiwanese version.. and although meteor garden was the first to produce a live.. japanese version was the closest to the real plot and story of the Manga.. but anyway… i also recommend lets go watch the meteor shower.. i think another taiwanese production?chinese? dunno.. they totally changed the story.. but i still like it….

…i luv boys over flowers so much… the korean version of F4 was really cute… i’m still waiting for another version… i hope it’s nice…how ’bout in hollywood???will they make another version…?
