While in Beijing, I had my hair rebonded. My sister recommended this salon she goes to. She gets a perfect straight hair (from a slightly wavy hair) and she looks like a Beijing native with her black straight hair. Because I’m getting tired of tying my really wavy hair despite my sisters saying that my wave is really nice, I want to try a new look.
So for 150RMB I had my hair rebonded. There was a free haircut included too but the hairstylist failed to follow the style that I wanted because we couldn’t understand each other. He doesn’t speak English. Oh well it still turned out satisfactory!
What is rebonding? I think it’s using chemicals to break out the bonds in your hair to make it permanently straight. It went like this: my hair was washed then a chemical was applied on it and left for 35 minutes. They washed my hair again then the stylist cut my hair. After the haircut, my hair was blow-dried and straightened with iron. Then they put another chemical and it was left for 15minutes. My hair was washed again and after that it was dried and ironed for the last time. Darn I felt like my hair died thousands of deaths with all that procedure.
My sister said that I shouldn’t wash my hair for 3 days so that the treatment will sink in. I also should refrain from tying my hair, or putting my hair behind my ears, or shaking my hair so that the straightness will remain.
Now it’s been 3 days and my hair is greasy and my scalp is itching. I really want to wash my hair already. But I’m still waiting for my other sister to come home because they said after washing my hair, it should be ironed again to maintain the straightness. She’ll ironed my hair for me. Because I wanted my rebond to be successful for a long time, I research on the after care for rebonded hair. Here’s what I discover from this link:
So what do you think?

i totally have no idea of the name of the salon. it’s just one of those small-time salons that are lined up everywhere in the city.

@anne: well…try to minimize the time your hair is tied. make sure your hair is dry before you tie it.
