I’m going to Coron with my sister this Sunday! I’m so excited that I’m actually blogging about this like 5 days ahead of time. I’ve been wanting to go to Palawan for a very long time now. When I got back from the US, I really planned to go here. My mom’s side of the family are from Palawan but my mom ironically has never taken us here. I’m the only member of the family who hasn’t gone to Palawan. My aunt has a free slot at Club Noah. That’s where I should be going. It’s free accommodation and food and resort amenities. The only thing I’m going to pay is my airfare. Unfortunately the place has been under renovation for quite some time now and I’m running out of time. I don’t want to go back to the US without having traveled to Palawan.

What’s in Palawan? Well my sister has already been there and was gushing over the white beaches, the clear water lake, the colorful reefs, etc.  That made me decide to go there. Actually Coron or Palawan in general is considered one of the best diving spots in the world. There’s also the famous historical leper colony at Culion and the wildlife safari zoo at Calauit. Both of which I’m not interested in going. I just want to hit the beach, reef and lakes!

So my determination and tenacity brought me the site  DIY Coron. It offers a reasonable priced tours in Coron and it comes highly recommended. My 2 friends have already availed of its services and they were satisfied. So my lodging, tour, plane ticket are all set. I have also researched dining and other activities to do in the island. Now I have to go shopping for some travel necessities.

According to my research, it is advisable to have aqua shoes because the stones and reef may be rough and cutting, insect repellant spray/lotion, flashlight, snorkeling gear, SPF lotion and waterproofed cases for electronics. I’m still debating if I want to buy a waterproof case for my digital camera. The one I saw was Dicapac. The reviews are good but it’s so expensive! It’s around 1300php. It’s either Dicapac or a disposable underwater camera which is around 500php. I’m not much of an underwater photography fan and I just want to have a memory of what’s it’s like underwater at Coron. I don’t know if Dicapac will be a good investment. Oh well I’ll just go with the flow…of my money. Hehehehe.

I’ll keep you posted about my adventures in Palawan! Finally I’m going to get a good tan!:)
