Well I reverted back to not wearing my retainers. I got over the pain of wearing it but unfortunately the position of my teeth are more complicated than I’ve originally thought. The space between my 2 front teeth, which is called diastema, can’t be simply closed by wearing retainers. So here’s the dilemma…
My lower front teeth are touching the back surface of my upper front teeth at normal bite. When I wear my upper retainer, it pushes my front teeth backward hence
the gap closes. I need to wear the retainers as much as possible to condition my teeth to that position. Then I found out that when I remove the retainer to eat or brush my teeth, my lower front teeth are bent on pushing my upper front teeth forward again. It basically reverses the action of my retainers. With this problem, I can’t just solve the my diastema with retainers. I need to do something about my lower teeth too which also can’t be solve by wearing a lower retainer since my lower front teeth are crowded. Sigh~ I think I need a comprehensive orthodontic work. I still won’t consider having my teeth restored with filling to close the gap. That’s a big NO! I don’t know if Invisalign can help me either. One thing for sure I don’t want to be a Madonna!
Me in braces? Well I guess it’s back to Ugly Betty days!
