Actually school starts next week. It has been postponed due to the Influenza A H1N1 virus hitting the schools right now. In the news it was reported that 5 or so students have the virus already. Earlier when I went to school for enrollment, I passed by La Salle University and was surprised to see that it was closed. There were no students. The school usually starts way earlier than other universities. Then I remembered from past news that there were 4 La Salle students who contracted the H1N1 virus. Wow so the whole school is under quarantine I guess. There were no reported cases in our school yet, thank God. What makes this flu virus different from other strains of flu virus anyway? The symptoms are the same. Does the severity of the attack different?
Another reason to be thankful was how my enrollment went. I don’t usually enroll during regular enrollment week because the line is way too long and the waiting is ridiculous. Yesterday I passed my physical exam medical form to the school’s hospital. The system was the nurse in the hospital will sign a form that will say I’m fit to be enrolled in the school and this form will be presented to the college secretary as requirement for enrollment. I planned to leave my PE medical form and return for that nurse’s form next monday since I would be in school that monday and I can still be considered for late registration of enrollment. I usually like to do a late registration because it’s quick – I’m done in about 15minutes. Then the nurse questioned me that my immunization report was missing some information. I told her that all my medical history files are with them. And to my utter dismay, the nurse couldn’t find it and marked it as lost. She informed me that she needed my titer test result to know if I really have immunization against Hepatitis B. I groaned when I heard this because I knew that I left my titer result back in the US. If I can’t produce that paper, she told me to do a new titer test. Uggh. That’s another expense I don’t want to pay. I went home and tried to figure out how to get that titer test result. I don’t know why this unfortunate events happened but I discovered the reason later. Fortunately my dad was online and was very accommodating and was able to scanned the result and emailed it to me. I had it printed which only cost me 6php. That’s cheaper than redoing the titer test. Feeling successful, I debated whether I will drop it off the next day or just do it everything on Monday. Well God pushed me to do it the next day. I went back to the hospital earlier to submit my titer test result. While there, I met with some of my schoolmates and they told me that the last day for late registration was actually today! Wooahh! If the nurse didn’t have me submit the titer test and if I didn’t return earlier, I would have missed being enrolled this semester completely! And my dad would strangle me if I don’t strangle myself first. God is really good. My enrollment experience was relatively quick and problem-free. There were not much students enrolling so I was called almost immediately.
So there you go, I’m officially enrolled – signed, sealed, delivered…I’m back in UP.
