I just had my hair rebonded again…only after 4 months! I know I shouldn’t have done it because
it can do serious damage to my hair (which it did – some ends are too frizzy). But I love my hair now because it’s super straight. I don’t need to blow-dry or iron it to make it straight. I just air-dry it and little combing then I’m off! Many of my friends didn’t like it because it’s poker straight unlike my previous rebonded hair which had volume. Feeling guilty that I had the rebonding done only after a few months, I tried searching for hair care tips.
What is rebonding?
Hair rebonding is the process of making your hair poker straight, it breaks the chemical bonds of your hair and then the solution straightens them and the bonds are re-arranged permanently. This treatment is a little harsh for your hair and thus after care is of utmost importance if you don’t want to lose your hair. There are two categories of chemicals that are used, the first one being a relaxant or cream softener which will break down the natural hair structure and the second one is a neutralizer which will help in giving the hair a new structure. However when we say permanent, don’t expect your fresh growth to be straight, for permanent implies that the hair once treated will remain straight till the new growth doesn’t appear. Quite apparently, the new growth will require subsequent touchups.
Here’s the collated information I got from the internet on how to take care of rebonded hair:

Hi,
I got ma rebonding done 2days back, and 2day had the hair wash at the saloon, but d hair looked just like a home blow dry effect and not the way its meant look after rebonding(as in poking straight), the saloon lady s suggesting me to go through the process again after a week…but i am apprehensive abt d whole ting….kindly let me know if its safe to go again…n she used Dreamron product for the rebonding

well…if it’s free of charge yes go ahead. but i think the chemical is not strong enough in the first place to get your hair really straight. maybe your hair type can be a factor?? i think the bad effect that will come out is you’ll get some frizzy strands but your hair will be really straight.

hey,im thinking of having my hair rebonded next week,my hair is thick and its shoulder length.i heard that after rebonding the hair would be really flat and “sticks to the scalp” does that only happen to thin hair? since my hair is thick it wouldnt be flat right? i want the hair to have volume.and what type of rebonding would let the hair have volume and is less damaging.
please help me im new to this ^^thanks a lot.
Katrina
December 9th, 2009 at 4:03 am
it’s going to be really straight especially if you have the stronger rebonding chemical. but thick straight. if you want volume you want the less harsh chemical.

sorry for the late reply. but it’s better if you 3days before you wash you hair. hair rebonding is expensive so better take care of it and follow all the suggestions to get the most out your money.

i had my hair rebonded just yesterday (1st time) .lol .some of my friends say hot oil atleast every two weeks .is it ok? and 1 thing also ,im a guy so does your hair care recommendations only implies to girls? is there a difference? or it is recommended for all rebonded hair .tnx
Katrina
December 17th, 2009 at 2:03 am
i think same rules apply. it is recommended to have hot oil to make your hair less dry and renourished but i did without it and my rebond lasted so i guess it’s up to you.
Katrina
December 17th, 2009 at 2:07 am
yes rebonding is very expensive. i’d stay away from FIX. masyadong commercialized and hindi ka tinututukan i think (that’s my experience with bench fix – are they the same?) anyway i wouldn’t pay that much for a rebond! magiron na lang ako ng hair ko. but if you have the money and a motivation to change your look, then go ahead. as i’ve said it’s better to pay great quality service than paying less and not being satisfied.

I just had my hair rebonded last tuesday Dec. 15, ’09. The result was superb! I got my hair done at Tony & Jackey SM North! A bit pricey but it’s worth it! 3000 pesos will do the job! It’s a package deal. hair manicure, hot oil, haircut and of course hair rebonding.. Look for An (look alike ni Rochelle P.) She’s so great that I gave her a tip! for the record: it’s my 2nd time rebond and 1 time hair relax! She’s telling me to upgrade to 5000 package deal bcoz my hair daw is like this and like that and might get damaged! But i refused for the 5000 and instead insist on 3000 package! and then voila! Great result!! clap! clap!

I had my hair semi-rebonded 2 weeks ago. This is already my 4th times and I have it done every after 6 to 8 months. I never go to famous but very expensive salon because I know you pay not only their service and products there but also the ambiance and of course their name! My hair is naturally curly to wavy but it always gets super straight, soft and shiny every after treatment and it really stays like forever, it never fails even though I only had it done in a not-so-known salon and for Php 1,000 to 1,500 only

hi kat (nice blog by the way),
just want to ask you three questions (i’m confused kasi)
1. You said that i should not wet my hair for 3days..so if i had my rebond done by tuesday.. i can only wash it on saturday? (am i ryt?)
2. After 3 days, can i really shampoo my hair? coz they told me that not to shampoo my hair (kadiri nga e..xe feeling ko if i only used conditioner ang lagkit lagkit nya p rin)
3. Wat leave on conditioner are u using?
Thank you very much in advance. Hope u can help me!
Katrina

well i shampooed and conditioned my hair after 3 days. and it turn out well. i don’t use a leave-on conditioner which didn’t affect my rebond at all. i think the leave-on is just to make it glossy and moisturized. but i did without it and my rebond stayed for a long long time until now and it’s been 4 months!

December 30th, 2009 at 1:09 am
probably the chemical wasn’t strong enough? or they didn’t iron your hair really well. or your hair is sitting on top of your shoulder that’s why it’s curling? the first 2 reasons were what happened to me the first time i had my hair rebonded which resulted in wavy hair still.
Katrina
December 30th, 2009 at 1:11 am
if you go to another chemical-involved procedure, chances are your hair will really get damaged. just like my sister’s – she had rebonding then she had hair dye immediately after. he hair got damaged. even mine too when i had my hair rebonded after just 4months, some hair ends are frizzy. but if you mean ironing, then it’s ok.
Katrina
December 30th, 2009 at 1:15 am
as for your hair falling away, hmmm…i had similar experience after not washing my hair for 3 days. it’s usually like that when you don’t wash your hair for a long time. yes you can cut your hair but keep in mind not to cut it too short because you’re rebond will be useless then. remember your hair grows from the roots so if your hair grows longer the roots will be curly but the ends will still be straight due to the rebond.
Katrina
December 30th, 2009 at 1:16 am
i think that’s the style. rebond will make your hair look like a broom. so if you have layers then you’ll look more “anime” than when there’s no layers

I also had my hair rebonded two days ago.
I’m really scared about that falling hair thing.Ever since I’ve been suffering from hairfall.I don’t want to turn bald.huhu..
And my hair is also curling at the ends like it was before the rebonding procedure.Maybe because it’s at the shoulders.also,it happens when I wake up in the morning.I don’t know how to avoid it from curling down.
I need your expert advice..

hey kat….
i just wanted to know if its safe to cut my hair 2 days after the rebonbding process.. does itn really have an effect because the salon professional (well so-called) said that my hair might get “scissor markings”… well .. i dunno i kind of think it was a stupid thing to say… i cant get the rationale out of it.. anyway… so what do you think?
Katrina
January 3rd, 2010 at 4:49 pm
it’s ok to cut your hair after rebonding. i did it with mine 2 days after rebond and i’ve not experienced “scissor’s markings”. but the natural order of things is usually the haircut first then the rebond. but there’s really nothing wrong with cutting your hair after rebond.
Katrina
January 3rd, 2010 at 4:51 pm
my stylist didn’t recommend me anything either. but i just use those separate shampoo and conditioner. i’ve been careful not to overdo my conditioning though – i limit it at least 2-3times a week. but regardless of the regimen, tony and jackey really did a good job with my rebond that’s why it stayed this straight until now.

i totally refrained from clipping my hair or binding my hair because i don’t want to create any “wave” on my rebonded hair. i never even tuck my hair behind my ears. so up until now, my rebonded hair is straight with no any waves. i don’t know what to suggest with your case, though.

Katrina
January 8th, 2010 at 2:10 am
my frizzy ends never smoothened out. it didn’t bother me much because it’s just a few strands. but for a temporary fix, you can straight-iron it. one of the side effects yan ng rebond. my hair has grown longer now (naka-4 months na e) and the frizzy ends disappeared siguro naggrow na rin.

This is the easiest explanation that I’ve found so far about taking care of rebonded hair. Thanks for posting this!
I just had my hair rebonded this afternoon, and it’s worth all the time sitting down stiffly for about 5 hours
and just to clarify, for the first 3 days I cannot wash my hair? (I might have gotten the edges a little wet :/) What about baby oil or leave on conditioner?

Great blog! Can you recommend brands of hot oil treatments? My stylist recommended something like vifa but I can’t remember the exact name. It’s a german company that makes a creamy hot oil treatment. My hair is rebonded and needs moisture.

Katrina
January 11th, 2010 at 5:52 am
the rules here are not hard fast rule but i’d rather stick to them to make the most of my rebond and money. the longer you don’t wash it, the rebond chemical will soak into your hair more.
Katrina
January 11th, 2010 at 5:54 am
never had hot oil treatments after my rebond procedure. i just use a deep hair conditioner which is locally made and let it sit on my hair for 5 minutes and rinse it off. i do this once a week.
Katrina
January 11th, 2010 at 5:57 am
yeah i have problem having some of the ends of my hair not getting wet especially when i’m washing my face. i followed the 3-day rule and i don’t know if it has a difference if one showers 1-2 days after a rebond. but since a lot of people are recommending the 3-day no washing of hair, i stick to it. prolonging the washing of hair makes the chemical soak in more to your hair and makes the rebond last longer.
Katrina
January 11th, 2010 at 6:02 am
you should have done the haircut first before the rebond. i had that same mistake but thankfully my haircut wasn’t too short that it didn’t fail to display my rebonded hair. i guess you have to ask the hairstylist if you can do the rebond again. as i’ve mentioned my sister had a hair dye immediately after a rebond and her hair just got frizzy and damaged. some strands of my hair got frizzy too doing the rebond just after 4 months from my first rebond. so i can just say that you’re risking more damaged hair having the rebond done again.

And it pissed me off to see the result . it turned back to the same old frizzy and curly hair. I felt so pissed off and irritated. You have to grow your hair or cut off your hair and don’t let it be treated with chemicals for 1 year. You’ve been ripped off by that hairstylist. Sorry to hear that.

mine is 1500 but it should really been 3000. it’s not about the length but more of the product used. if korean product, it’s 1500 and is usually only for virgin hair. 3000 for loreal keratase which is used for previously rebonded/treated hair.

hello ate kat
karerebond ko lang last thursday. ( may 27 ) .
Katkat
June 1st, 2010 at 3:25 am
Fly away meaning broomstick fly away? If your hair falls on top of your shoulders then the tendency is you’ll have flyaway hair. It’s ok to have volume because you don’t want a super thin and flat hair. If volume meaning nagkawave sya, then it’s not nice nga. I had similar experience but what worked for me was i had another rebond after 4 months and the girl from tony and jackey did a meticulous ironing of my hair kaya naging straight for a very long time actually until now, 10 months na.

Katkat
June 2nd, 2010 at 9:58 am
i’m not sure if it’s advisable to have hair spa everyday. you’re actually putting too much chemical in your hair and you’ll be risking a very frizzy hair. just shampoo it daily and use conditioner twice a week. don’t iron, it don’t blow-dry it. let it just be.

Hi Kat! I just reboned my hair yesterday..
but my friend who has rebonding experience before told me that can use some water to make it straight if the next day when i wake up if my hair look like not so straight..
so i believed what she said, i apply some water at the end of my hairs.. then she just made a call to tell me that she remember wrongly..she used crystal oil but nt water..OMG..
when my hairs dry, it looks frizzy..so i just use my own flat iron to straighted it..the frizzy part become smooth again and it’s great..
i have a question here..will it become frizzy again after i wash my hair 3days later??

the reason why you shouldn’t wet your hair after a rebond is to let the chemical soak in longer in your hair. so if you washed it away, then i guess it’s washed away.
Katkat
June 8th, 2010 at 10:55 am
i think it’s frizzy because the chemical was so harsh. i still have frizzy strands from my 2nd rebond. it didn’t go away after several washing or after ironing it.

Hi kat. Thanks God at updated kpa sa blog nto. My 1st rebond was last yr.. (june) Nadamage kc hair ko sa kakarelax so i had to undergo this treatment.. Satisfied naman ako sa result. Then after 6 m0nths (dec) ngparebond ulit ako kasi my stylist said na ok lng daw after 6 months.. kso d ako msyado ngandahan sa result, unlike to what i expected, ksi sabi pg ngpatouch up, mas gaganda daw, eh hindi naman eh. Naisip ko tuloy bka hnd adviceable ung evry 6 m0s. So now June na, 6 months ulit at may mga curly hairs nko and they’re getting more obvious.. So I think Need ko na ulit mgprebond, is it ok ba talga mgparebond every after 6 months? Wala pa kc akong clear na answer na nabasa regarding this question. well it depends kasi kung san ka nagpagawa. maybe your last one they didn’t do it well or the chemical was a different one from your first rebond. i haven’t tried every 6 months yet. my 2nd rebond was 4 months after the first and I got some frizzy strands but my hair was so straight. My sister though regularly has her hair rebonded every 6 months in Beijing and she has good results. I guess it depends where you have it rebonded.

Hi Kat
your blog is very useful to me… I’m from Sri Lanka by the way =)
I am thinking of rebonding my hair…
I wanna know, when you had a wash in the 3 days before a bathe, how did you put up your hair so as not to get it wet? did you use a bathe cap??
and how on earth can you sleep carefully with the new hair? this is a big problem for me…….
pls help

i did not do any deep sleep those two nights. whenever I move I would wake up and make sure my hair was straight and flat. Suffice to say, my neck and shoulders were stiff after the 2nd night. you can do it if you put your mind to it.
for bathing, I clip my hair on the sides every time i wash my face. It still got wet on some strands though. Then when showering since I didn’t have any shower cap, I wrapped my hair loosely with a towel and moved carefully so my hair wouldn’t get wet.

Hi…kat, nice blog… Its really good in searching in the internet on what to do…specially on rebonding..
I got my hair rebonded, 3 days back., so I have my hair bath today only..after that I had it dry on the fan.. I comb it actually. Can you suggest anything I can do to make it ok? what do i have to do? I cannot go back to the parlor as I was about to travel 2 days from now…

And also, can you tell me is it ok to iron the hair now a bit, like if I have to attend a wedding or party etc.?
thank you

It depends on your hair type how long before your hair grows. Mine was 6months before i saw the curls on the side of my face. And yes you can iron your hair.

Yes you can go swimming. Make sure to shampoo yourhair to get rid of the chlorine and condition your hair to remoisturize it. Tell me if it works! Happy swimming!

hi.. nagpa-rebond ako last wednesday (july 21) tapos they said i should not wash my hair for 3 days, but yesterday, what i did was i only conditioned my hair, hehe. then i dried it sa electric fan (sabi kasi wag daw i-blow dry) tapos ok naman siya kaya lang may ibang part sa may right na nag-fly away. bakit ganun? anong gagawin ko? should i call the salon i went to?
Katkat
July 26th, 2010 at 9:42 am
@maria: do you think your hair is sitting on your shoulders that’s why it has fly away? If it won’t go away have it cut. Probably during the procedure they ironed it not straight but at the direction of the fly away.
Maria
August 3rd, 2010 at 11:00 am
i’m still having problems with my hair! minsan kasi sobrang straight niya pero minsan naman may flyaways. medyo layered kasi yung buhok ko, so may ibang part na sumasabit sa may shoulders. siguro nga papagupit na lang ako.

@isaa: stop putting more chemicals to your hair. Let your hair grow healthy again. Put hair moisturizer to nourish it. If you need to iron it, put a protective cream. Since rebonded na hair mo, you can’t further rebond it without damaging your hair to a frizzier look

ate. rebonded ung hair ko. last year, may. ang problema ko lng po, nagkkroon na ng wave ung buhok ko kasi iniipit ko kasi may wave. gets mo po? hindi ko po malugay kasi ampangit tignan nun wave na iisa lng nmn, sa may parte ng hair ko na pino-ponytail ko. from the wave down to the ends, ok nmn po. mag-pptreatment po ba dpat ako? ung wave lng po tlga problema ko.

@mishael: i believe you can have it rebonded. if it’s last year then it’s more than a year so it’s ok to have it rebonded again.

Hi. great blog, really helpful. read all of the comments but i still have a question.
uhm would it be okay to go swimming to the beach 5 days after having a rebond? would it get damaged?
Thanks
Katkat
October 3rd, 2010 at 10:47 pm
@jayne: i haven’t tried that yet so i really don’t know. But personally i’d rather not risk it because i paid a lot for the rebond and i don’t want to get it damaged quickly. Remember you can’t put any chemicals on your hair for another 6 months. I think i’ll wait for a month or two.

you can put some hair wax or styling mousse to give it more volume. or you can shampoo and condition your hair everyday to lessen the chemical from the rebond

hey first i wanna know that can you use wax daily?
second -is it ohkay to shampoo your hair daily?
third-the saloon guy suggests me not to go to the gym or do any treadmill ,as sweat is not good for the hair.
and some say that diet an important factor in ur growth of hair ..what do you say

My hair was still curly and frizzy….went back to the saloon, she asked me to do again. i rebonded again yesterday and still the result is not gud …some hair still curly…so the stylist asked me to do again on tuesday….i juz worried that my hair will damage eventhot the stylist told me that its wont….wat shud i do…im totaly blur

thanks for the info. i had hair rebonding last feb 20. so it’s ok to wash it tomorrow morning right? i initially planned on having it done in Tony and Jackey, but i was worried that i’ll spend too much in T&J. i ended up having a milk rebonding on a salon at sm, costing me 4500, complete with 6 bottles of different maintenance stuffs like shampoo, hair shine. i haven’t tried them but i hope my hair would stay as good if i use them. do you think it’s ok to have a hair coloring done?say after 2 weeks? And is it ok to have hair coloring in other salon? the salon i went to does not have available colors of dye.

Katkat
March 4th, 2011 at 5:31 am
@kathy: my sister dyed her hair along with the rebonding procedure and it so damaged her hair. i suggest letting your hair get used to the rebonding before putting any more chemicals on it.

Katkat
March 5th, 2011 at 11:34 am
you can consult your hairstylist/salon because they know better. IMHO, i’d rather leave my hair alone after the rebond. my hair looks healthy (shiny, smooth, and soft) after the rebond so i saw no need for hair spa or any other treatment.

hope you can answer my question. thanks

a layered cut sounds wonderful. You can also look at celebrity magazines to get ideas for your haircut. Be fearless!

Hi, how many months for the rebonded hair adequate for a dye & cut? 1-3 months? The length is just below the neck
(Your blog is great
)
Katkat
April 9th, 2011 at 2:52 am
@emma: you can wait for 3-6months for a hair dye. But you have hair cut at anytime, but consider that your natural hair type will grow from the roots so when you cut your hair, you may cut the rebonded or straight hair and more of the natural hair will come out.

hi po!this wednesday po paparebond po ako…i have a long hair and im thinking na magpa.bangs na din sabay sa rebond…interested ako magpa.full bangs pero natatakot ako na if humaba na ung bangs at gusto kong putulin baka magcurl…i want to maintain the length kasi nung bangs…
Katkat
May 25th, 2011 at 12:00 pm
if the root of your hair grows straight, then it’s ok to cut it. but if it’s curly, then in the future magcurl talaga ang bangs mo kasi you want it short lagi di ba? so you’re cutting the rebonded ends and you end up with the curly root.

Hello Kat!!!(nice blog)
i have a question, just had my hair rebonded last thursday (june 9)…and mag-one week palang sya ngayon.. and then after that.. napansin ko na medyo wavy na ang rebonded hair ko.. so sad talaga.. and plus super hot pa.. and i decided to tie my hair already(since i know naman na di dapat super tight mag tie nang rebonded hair. so, di ko sya tinali na super tight).. but kahit na di sya super tight yung pagkakatali ko.. napansin ko na nag iwan na nang mark sa buhok ko.. and so sad dahil.. may mark na ang rebonded hair ko.. so my question is.. yung mark ba na-naiwan sa rebonded hair ko is may magagawa pa ba na paraan para maalis pa sya?or madadaan ba to sa pag iron nang hair? please answer my question because i don’t have any idea para bumalik yung rebonded hair ko..

Katkat
June 29th, 2011 at 4:09 am
@ylaine: it’s ok to use hair serum when your hair looks dry but apply it on the ends only. Wearing a helmet will leave a mark, so try a different mode of transportation in the meantime. Stay away from any chemical treatment for at least 2-3 months

@rachel: i suggest not to do the spa treatment. just wash your hair regularly but limit your shampoo use probably that’s making your scalp dry and causing you dandruff.

July 18th, 2011 at 11:34 pm
This blog is really a big help! Good Job Ms. Kat:))
Katkat
July 19th, 2011 at 4:23 am
@millie: as long as straight ang gair mo sa pagtulog, that’s a good position. If you put your hair up, it will create a bend or fold sa hair mo and this will actualy show later on after mi iwash ang hair mo. So really do your best that your hair is flat while sleeping. For shampoo and conditioner, look for clear runny or not too viscous liquid instead of creamy or opaque liquid (the latter is better for curly hair). I use loreal ever sleek shampoo n conditioner which don’t do much. I also like biolink shampoo n conditioner.

my hair was 1st rebonded 1 yr ago, it was really perfect for about 1 yr of my life and after 1 yr it becomes dry and frizzy again,, so last july 9 i got my 2nd rebond for my hair but, after 3 days, my hair was just like it was relaxed, its not really straight either and it also have many dry hair and so a little bit frizzy and im not contented with the result.. my hairdresser told me that i can rebond my hair again after 1 month but im also scared that it’ll just cause hair loss, the procedure was free said my hairdresser..should i take the procedure again?
im so confused.thank you.

@lala: i suggest you have it rebonded again after the first month if it’s free. Actually that’s what happened to my hair right now – it’s not super syraight as i would have liked but parang relax lng. My friends liked it because it has volume. @niharika: ask the salon when would be the best time because coloring the hair can be really damaging so imho, just wait 1-2 months before you get the rebond to lessen the damage.

kat i think ur suggestion was wrong, i have a rebonded hair and i do rebond hairs also. base from my own xperience if you have already rebonded your hair before then you dcided to rebond your hair again do not cut those areas you think are already dry and unhealthy, rebond it first then do the cutting after 3 days when you have already washed your hair =) i have encountered this many times=)

hi kat..im glad consistent ang pagsagot mo sa blogsite mo ive been reading it from top to bottom and its very informative, i hope u can answer some of my questions..i just had my hair rebonded a week ago and im not satisfied with the result..im from south america and walang rebond treatment dito so sariling sikap i bought a rebonding cream in pinas when i went on vac. 2 months ago..so the girl in hortaleza suggested the matrix sensitized (for sensitive hair) rebonding cream since she noticed na narebond na un hair ko before she told me mild daw un cream na un.so my sister in law rebonded my hair we follow the instructions kaya lang un result is not that good. straight sya sa taas pero un middle part ng hair ko still curly and frizzy..we wer thinking maybe its becoz mild nga un cream..now my question is pwede kaya namen ulitin un procedure after a week na nirebond ako since sensitized naman un gamot? so desperate to have a pin straight hair. thanks kat. @nissa: i have no experience with home treatment. are you sure that the curly or frizzy area is not actually damaged hair? i think you can redo it because when i go to the salon in the phils, they would be ok with redoing the procedure if i wasn’t satisfied with it. but i guess caution lang.

Hi Kat! For the “oiling” part, can I use castor oil instead? I’ve heard that the castor oil can do wonders for the hair. I’ve heard that it can stimulate the growth of hair thus making it more full, since I’ve currently lost quite a lot of hair due to breakage and stress. I’ve also heard that it can “seal-in” split ends.
Also, how many days/weeks/months do you recommend (after my rebonding procedure) that I start with the oiling?
Just some side notes, I used the L’oreal X Tenso Moisturist and my 3-day no wash will end on Sunday afternoon. Thank you, Kat!

Katkat
November 6th, 2011 at 8:49 am
@angel: i believe it’s the cut that made the fly away look. if you’re hair is straight from the rebond then the rebond works. i don’t know what a korean style cut is.
Katkat
November 6th, 2011 at 8:51 am
@olive: you can use that oil if you find that it does wonder to the hair. i’ve discovered that when i use the loreal eversleek brand, my hair has the tendency to have split ends more. so i switched to Ojon shampoo and conditioner which makes my hair really soft and silky and less damaged. try the oiling like one month after your rebond so that it won’t interfere with the rebond chemical.

hi. im not really a hair expert and i never really did anything with my hair so i wanted to make sure that my hair wouldnt be a “mess” after such major treatment. im sure you would also, if you only knew then, right?
so please helop. i plan to have my virgin hair rebonded tomorrow plus a choice of free cellophane or a hair spa that goes with it. however, im also planning to dye my hair probably two weeks after that, but the question is would itbe safe? how soon can i dye my hair again after rebonding + cellophane? also, which do you think is a better choice right after rebond – hair spa or hair cellophane – understanding the circumstance that i want to dye my hair two weeks after the rebonding treatment. sorry for so many questions, but please, please do help.

@mika: just do the rebond and get the others done 6 months to 1 yr after. If you put too many harsh chemicals your hair will get very damaged.

Hi.thanks for all the advice. Really help me clear some of my doubts. This is my second time that I rebond. I use wax on my hair at least five times a week whenever i,m going out.does this affect the rebonding in any way? and ya one more thing, I wash my hair with shampoo daily and conditioner on alternate days(shampoo and conditioner recomended by stylist), but is it more than enough to maintain it? Cause I don’t want to go to all the trouble to oil it and so on. Hope you reply soon. Really appreciate it. And thanks again for this amazingly helpful website.

Katkat

@Saranya: you can always cut it. if your hair is thin from the root to the tip then look into your diet; it can be the reason for thinning hair and hair fall.

December 10th, 2011 at 3:03 pm
@mariedith: hopefully it will work out. i don’t think it will damage the rebond. just use good shampoo and conditioner afterwards.
Katkat
December 10th, 2011 at 3:05 pm
@fard: if your hair looks dry, you can use hair wax only at the ends. your shampoo and conditioner should alternate. don’t make it daily. what i do is 1st day: shampoo, 2nd day conditioner, 3rd day none, then i repeat the cycle again.

Hi, I just rebond my hair on 6.12.11 and washed my hair today. Before i rebond my hair, the stylist told me that my hair is already damaged and its thin and short (shoulder length) before i actually rebond it. After rebonding, my hair looks so funny (its thin and so dry) and the below part is curve a bit, its not straight. When i do the rebonding, I didn’t do the treatment. Just wanna ask, am i doing the right thing? Rebonding my hair just because my previous hair is already damaged? Any advised on what i should do to my hair?
I really need help. Pleaseeee
Katkat
December 13th, 2011 at 11:48 am
@Naizaa: you should wait for your hair to grow again. better cut the damaged part or it will travel up the root of the hair. stay away from any chemical treatment for the next 6 months or more. only do trim.

December 18th, 2011 at 9:46 am
@kitz: if you’re hair is thick, it’s ok if there’s hair fall. but dry and frizzy is not good. what you can do is just outgrow your hair. let new healthy roots grow and trim the damaged ends.

December 24th, 2011 at 9:58 am
Hi Dears.. I’ve been reading this blog just now.. I enjoyed it really. For those asking about their hair, kat is right that you shouldn’t wash your hair for 3 days.strickly 3 days!! Any shampoo and conditioner will do (as long as it’s hiyang to your hair).. I”m using Loreal Elvive smooth intense anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner for the longest time..well it really helped me in maintening my hair. Loreal leave on is also great for my hair type(but I’m not using it for a year though since their shampoo and conditioner is doing all the hard work for me). Ever since I didn’t change my brand. I think all we need to do is to know what brand works for our hair type. I found mine.
The next NOT to do after your hair is being rebonded is…NEVER IRON your hair until the next rebonding schedule. If it took a year.. then we need to wait.
NEVER BLOW DRY (for a year, the next time you think of holding your blow dryer.. think of the damage you will cause to your hair, Its a NO NO thing to do if you really apply heat again to your hair)…Use electric fan instead..Air drying is ok but not outside the house.. not while your riding a jeepney. You’ll get all the dirt in the road if you do so.
Remember what Kat said..NEVER PUT YOUR HAIR BEHIND YOUR EAR…I usually remind my friends with that..It’s a very simple rule that we girls usually forgets.
PONYTAIL is also a NO NO…
Don’t PANIC if you got your scalp burn after rebonding..(magsusugat sya that’s true) all you have to do is go back to the saloon and they have to repair the damage,WITHOUT ADDITIONAL PAYMENT..but if you can’t go back due to reasonable circumstances..just call the saloon..(IT’S A MUST that we GET the saloon’s number or our hair stylist). Another thing is wash your hair with laundry soap..it will stop the chemical in damaging your scalp and hair if the chemical used is too strong..but you must call first the saloon before doing the laundry soap thing.. they should know first what happened to your scalp.
I’m forgetting alot of things now..hopefully some of my tips can really help other girls out there.

Ano po bang magandang gawin to make it fully straight? Reply asap.
Nagparebond po ako 2 months ago but napansin ko po na hindi straight ang buhok ko kaulad ng ibang rebonded hair. Naging wavy po siya just like my hair before nung di pa ko nagpaparebond. I used to use a blower everyday because it makes my hair straight kaya lang po after a few hours nagiging wavy nanaman po siya, parang di na po ako nakarebond.

After searching for a while on the internet i found your blog most convincing and cool. you did a Great Job there. Thanks for that.
since i am a guy i dont have a super long hair but long enough to touch my lower neck. will it make a difference if i put on a cap?
I have a simple yet silly question. i got my hair rebound done last night. and slept and woke up this morning to find the hair puffed up in the middle
Thanks.

@raj: yes that’s ok as long as you keep your hair contained and straight.

@miles: yes but your hair will get really damaged so try to schedule your hair dye 6 months after the rebond.

@vanessa: cutting your hair is ok but tying your hair or curling your hair is not ok because it will create dent on your newly rebonded hair. try waiting after a month to style your hair.

Naaparebond w/ cello and patrim ako last two weeks ago. Super ganda ng hair q nung di q pa binabasa. But after 3 days binasa ko na xa ngkaron ng wave ung ibang part ng hair q.then binalik q xa sa salon. but after mabasa gnun ulit knalabasan. I asked some of my freinds bat gnun.. sabi naman nila kaya ngka wave kc nirebond muna aq bago nila ginupitan. Panu po kaya pwede ko gawin para mabawasan or mawala ung wave ng hair q?anung treatment po kaya pwede?kc may gmot pa naman hair q kc almost 2weeks palang to..sayang naman..thank you so much.

@vicky: try a shampoo and conditioner which is sulfate free. i use Ojon which is a very good brand although expensive. I also use Aveeno the new line of shampoo which is a cheaper alternative. it makes my hair soft and healthy looking.

Hi, um currently, I’m having the same problem, last yr, was my 2nd time of rebonding….some part of my hair, especially at the back-bottom part, are frizzy but only at the ends
…so last week, I went to salon, juz to have my hair trimmed n layered, my hairstylist told me that those frizzy-ends are caused by the 2nd time rebonding….she said that I should have just doing some touchups instead of rebonding all over again….what should I do now? Trim the ends?
Katkat

@illi: yes you can trim the ends especially the frizzy ends.

@aki: try to avoid making “dent” on your hair. but if it’s only for a short time, then it’s ok.
Katkat

@marielle: if you’re worried about having wavy hair, it will depend on the root of your hair when it grows. of course the ends will be straight but if you cut it make sure that you don’t cut it too short such that nawala ang rebond part of your hair.
