For my despedida, my friends and I decided to go clubbing. Clubbing is not a normal activity for our group. Usually when my gang gets together, we just hang out in one of my friend’s house, or we go swimming, or we just eat dinner, or we go to karaoke. So we are so excited to try out clubbing and where else but at the country’s super club, Embassy.

Unfortunately the day before we were supposed to go to Embassy, I received the news from my friend that the club closed down because of an incident. So she suggested we go to The Manor at Eastwood City.  The Manor is actually a sister club of Embassy having the same owners.  It appeared that the international DJ which Embassy hired for that night was also transferred to the Manor.

It’s been a long time since I last stepped on Eastwood City. The mall was really lively and very colorful. It was very pleasant to just stroll along the streets. The restaurants were a mix from high price range to a low-budget meal. It seemed similar to Bonifacio High Street. The crowd too were all dressed to the nines. It was a good thing our group blended well with the crowd. (TIP: it’s really nice to wear high-heeled shoes but a long night of dancing can literally kill your feet, so vanity or comfort?)

We were able to enter The Manor at discounted price because one of my friends have contact from the inside. So our names were put in the guest list and we only had to pay P200. But of course there will be no consumable drinks or a table for us. We were standing the whole time. The Manor is built like an English Regency house. Into the foyer, we were greeted by an awesome chandelier display. There were stairs going up to the “Penthouse” and another down to the “Basement” These 2 rooms played different music. In the Basement, hiphop music dominated. A lot of young crowds were here and danced uninhibitedly. In the “Penthouse”, the guest DJ from Canada, DJ Lange spinned electronica/trance remixes. The lights were phenomenal and there was a monitor with awesome graphics being shown over the DJs table. The group here tended to be more refined and dancing was limited to trance like swaying.

We decided to try the Basement first because the upper room had a small crowd and the guest DJ hasn’t arrived yet. In the Basement, the floor was quickly filled up by a dancing crowd when one or two groups braved to dance first. We followed suit and soon our group was being squeezed while grooving to the music. The room was actually small, I guess the size of a regular classroom. There was a VIP section on one area where a pole was provided. I saw some people playing and dancing on that pole. When we had our fill of hiphop music, we went up to check the Penthouse. We were surprised that it got crowded so quickly especially when our arrival was timely with the introduction of DJ Lange. In the Penthouse the dance floor is pretty small but the areas for reserved tables and VIP sections were spacious. We just stood outside the dance floor and swayed with the music.

It was a fun evening. We satisfied our dancing fever. I liked the Basement better because people were really having fun dancing. In the Penthouse, crowd was kind of stiff and uninspired. And I discovered that I don’t like electronic/trance music. My unfavorable experiences in the club were the heavy amount of second-hand smoke and the blinding lights. I think I  had acquired emphysema from all the second-hand smoke I inhaled. My eyes were irritated and the room was getting stuffy. It didn’t help with that flashing strobe light which could literally blind you. So we were dancing with our heads bowed down.

We decided to leave at 230am. I guess our bodies weren’t accustomed to chilling out till the wee hours of the morning. LOL!  However it was a very eventful and fascinating evening!
