Being a California resident particularly residing in the Bay Area, I’m 30 minutes drive away from San Francisco City. I love San Francisco city. It’s so alive, colorful, and festive. When I arrive in the US the first time, I was so in love with San Francisco. We live in an area where store closes at around 8-9pm, activities are family-oriented and there’s no mall and the downtown is a short stretch of restaurants and small boutiques. It’s lovely to walk there but it’s not as happening as San Francisco.

Since both my parents are working and I don’t how to drive a car back then, I have mastered commuting with the bus, BART, and train. I will travel alone to San Francisco and spend the whole day walking and just sight-seeing. I have a map with me and the San Francisco people are kind enough to offer assistance when I get lost. Because I don’t have much money, I just go sight-seeing and not spend my time with shopping and looking for stuffs. I can’t walk the entire duration of my sightseeing so of course I take the muni bus where the ticket is good for the whole day. SFO for me is so bright, adventuresome and a different world! If I can live in the city, I would!

Let me remember the places I have visited: Union Square, Financial District, SFO library, Fisherman’s wharf, the Pier, Embarcadero, Ferry Building, Chinatown, Lombard Street, North Beach, Japantown, etc. Basically these are the places I always go to whenever I’m in San Francisco. I can’t think of any more new places to see. When I’ve learned how to drive, I become less motivated to go to the city. I don’t like to drive to the city and I don’t like to commute. So I end up going nowhere.

2 days ago I went to SFO again with my friends who are visiting the country. We went to the same places I’ve already been to. And it was nice to share the traveling with friends. We walk the whole time. Circling around union square, the embarcadero and the terminal at ferry building. It was a gorgeous sunny day and walking around was pleasant. At the same time I couldn’t help but  think, “Is this all there is to San Francisco?”

If you have any great suggestions on what else to do and where else to go in SFO, please feel free to leave a comment.
