Christmas this year has been very eventful. December started with a new job and a 2nd job. I’ve been so busy and focus on work that days flew by so quickly and before I even know it, it’s the 24th! So nothing happened much before the 24th except one Christmas party I attended at my mom’s workplace. Nothing memorable about that except getting a $25 gift card from Cheesecake Factory. Since I’m new in the job, I wasn’t also invited in my office christmas party if they ever had one. The one thing I did during my off days are shop, shop, shop sale prices! Those sales will make me bankrupt!

Anyway fast forward to the 24th where we would gather around later that evening for a family Christmas dinner at my aunt’s house. The day centered with  preparations for our family’s potluck. Since my mom is working, I was the one who made our potluck offering. I made Cheese Potato Casserole and Apple Pie.While the food is baking in the oven, I was watching Glee episodes and wrapping my gifts at the same time. When my mom came home from work, she took over the gift wrapping because I’ve no patience and artistic hands in gift-wrapping. So I just went to dress for the evening.

Unlike Thanksgiving from before, this time the food was aplenty. It’s an international cuisine – Filipino, Mexican, American, Chinese dishes are on the table. Fajitas (courtesy of guests Neil and Grace), Palabok, Lumpia Shanghai, Pancit Bihon, Sapin Sapin, Apple Pie, Potato Cheese Casserole, Baked Salmon, wine, beer – we were heavily gastronomically-indulged. I was also taken aback by the amount of gifts littered on the living room floor almost covering the whole area. And I thought we were in an economic recession. The older guys were left with their drinking while the women converse over food. Although way too full already, I still keep on eating. Later my aunt brought out her PS2 and played the  Rockstar (??) game where people will compete in singing. Having too much alcohol, people were showing off their singing prowess. Next was the gifts exchange. Got so many gifts this year and being a picky person, I’m glad to receive a lot of things that I like. Kudos to me for buying my christmas presents way before I arrived here from the Philippines. That way I wasn’t too stressed about gift shopping. A mountain of gift wrapping paper later, we resumed our singing contest. When the revelry was over, we went home but before that we stopped by Eucalyptus Avenue to view the Christmas light displays. Because it’s past midnight, some houses shut down their christmas lights. But 2 of the houses keep on burning. We took pictures before finally heading towards our home.

It’s been a very memorable Christmas eve. And I thank God for giving us the reason to celebrate Christmas. Thank you God for all the blessings, for the gathering, for the gifts and for JESUS, who is the greatest gift of all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
