Waiting for September’s TV season premieres

Our TV has been seriously neglected for the past summer months. I couldn’t find anything to watch except for Masterchef and So You Think You can Dance (which I didn’t really follow that much.) Anyway come September the better TV shows come back! Here are their schedules (if you’re watching what I’m watching, )

Parenthood (NBC) – Sept 13

America’s Next Top Model (CW) – Sept 14

Dancing with the Stars (ABC) – Sept 19

New Girl (Fox) – Sept 20, starring Zoey Deschanel. I liked her at 500 Days of Summer. So we’ll see…

Glee (Fox) – Sept 20

The X-Factor (Fox) – Sept 21, will Simon Cowell bring it?

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) – Sept 22

Amazing Race (CBS) – Sept 25

Once upon a Time (ABC) – Oct 23. Oh this isn’t September…the trailer looked interesting so we’ll see…

Unfortunately I can’t watch Top Chef and Project Runway because our cable package doesn’t include them. Anyway there are too many shows, they would surely keep me glued the whole week. Thank God for September! and thank God for DVR!

Who’s who in Dancing with the Stars this season

Come March or April, I’ll become a couch potato again. A lot of my favorite TV shows are coming back for new season/episodes: Glee, Gossip Girl, America’s Next Top Model, Dancing with the Stars, etc. Added to those shows but currently I’m watching Grey’s Anatomy, Project Runway, Marriage Ref, and American Idol. I’m TV show-overloaded!!! It’s a good thing there’s TV recording or else I will break our remote control jumping from one channel to another.

This year’s Dancing with the Stars will have a fantastic lineup. They have famous celebrities in store for season 10. To name with their pro partners:

1. Buzz Aldrin and Ashley Costa – Buzz Aldrin has a mouthful of occupation: Astronaut, scientist/inventor, bestselling author, advocate for man’s future in space, Buzz Aldrin is considered one of the greatest heroes of space exploration.

2. Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya – Evan Lysacek is the Olympic 2010 gold medalist for men’s figure skating. But wouldn’t this intervene with his competition for the World Figure Skating Championship on March 20-29?

3. Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood – Pamela Anderson…need I say more?

4. Erin Anderson and Maksim Chmerkovsky – Since joining ESPN in 2004, Erin Andrews has become one of the most well-known sports reporters in the country.

5. Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke – the dance floor is never without a football player. Chad Ochocinco is one of the NFL’s most prolific wide receivers.

6. Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska – Aiden Turner was cast for the role of Aiden Devane on ABC’s “All My Children” in 2002. He played that role for eight years, and recently left the show to pursue other acting opportunities in film and television. Hmm…lots of people from All My Children are joining the show.

7. Shannen Doherty and Mark Ballas – 90210 alum; will this make or totally break her career?

8. Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani – why is she here? Shouldn’t she be focusing on taking care of her 8 kids?

9. Niecy Nash and Louis Amstel – Niecy Nash is the host of Clean House.

10. Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower – the Bachelor turns to dancer. I guess this is his free dance lessons for the wedding.

11. Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough – Pussycat doll Nicole has the most advantage here. Is there going to be a stripper pole?

Samantha Harris is leaving the show and she will be replaced by Melissa Rycroft to host the show with Tom Bergeron. There’s still no Julianne Hough this time. Is she out for good? Dancing with the Stars season 10 will premiere on March 22 at 8/7 on ABC.

Some reality tv contests are coming to an end. Notably are American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. I’ve faithfully watch this program and I think these would be the results:

American Idol – Among Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, and Danny Gokey, who would take the crown? I like Kris Allen because he has style but I think Danny and Adam are the more popular contestants right now. But if I’m the judge, I would like Kris and Adam in the final 2. Danny for me has become monotonous and unoriginal in terms of performance. He can sing but he doesn’t show any unique performances/musical arrangement unlike Kris and Adam. But I believe Adam will win this year because he has consistently showed great memorable performances. Do you like how this season turned out? IMHO, I didn’t like this season because there’s not much excitement in terms of talent. The only talented contestant is Adam. I was hoping for Danny but he turned out boring when he delivered the same kind of performance week after week. I think the best showdown of all American Idol seasons were between Carrie Underwood vs Bo Bice and David Cook vs David Archuleta.

2. Dancing with the Stars – this has been the most exciting season ever! The competition is really hot. It’s now down to 4: Gilles and Cheryl, Shawn and Mark, Melissa and Tony, and Ty and Chelsea. Although Ty is really cute and endearing with the effort he puts on the dance floor, I think he should be the next one out. I’m voting for Shawn and Mark to win this year’s title. I like Shawn’s enthusiasm, professionalism and charm. For the final 2, I want to have Melissa competing with Shawn. I want Melissa to place runner-up just because of Tony. I don’t think Tony has come this far and besides they’ve been working really hard with Melissa having a handicap. But I think the finale would be between Gilles and Shawn. Gilles has that sexiness which earns him a lot of women’s vote. Although they haven’t regained their top scores, Gilles always give a great performance.

The death of a TV couch potato

Now that I’m back in the Philippines I won’t be able to watch my fave shows!!!! Dancing with the Stars, Grey’s Anatomy, Top Model, Samantha Who, Top Chef, Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives…..I can’t even watch the episodes online because the TV’s website has restrictions. What am I to do????? Well I’ve got to be resourceful and cunning if I want to really know what is happening in the shows **evil mode thinking**

Rocco's out in DWTS

Rocco DiSpirito was finally voted out from DWTS. I was rooting for him. But his good looks and chef background can’t compensate his total lack of dancing skill. Sigh~

My next faves are Brooke Burke and Warren Sapp. It’s amazing that for such a big guy, Warren is truly light on his feet. There are so many endearing contestants in this season. I would love to see Cloris voted out but she and her partner are just so adorable off stage that it’s hard to see them go. Cody Linley is funny too and he truly delivers every performance. Susan Lucci is so sincere that it’s just heartwarming to see her dance her heart out everytime. I wish Misty May Treanor wasn’t injured. I love watching her dance with her “deer in the headlight” expressions. It is just so funny.

So my prediction who will go head-to-head on the finale would be Brooke Burke and Warren Sapp.

Rocco Dispirito in Dancing with the Stars

OMG! I can’t believe it when the news reported the roster for this season’s dancing with the stars. I’m an avid watcher of the show and Rocco in the show?!!! oh yeah!!!! I’ll definitely watch it. I first discovered about Rocco’s existence at Top Chef. He’s so good looking!!!!!!! HOT! HOT! HOT! And he can cook! Ok my future husband should be able to cook – I want to be pampered and treated like a queen. So Rocco, yoo hoo – I’m single and available

Here's to Rocco Dispiritu's life (excerpt from roccodispirito.com):

Rocco DiSpirito was born and raised in Jamaica, Queens. His culinary experience began at age eleven in his mother Nicolin’s kitchen. By the age of 16, DiSpirito entered the Culinary Institute of America. He graduated in 1986 and studied abroad at Jardin de Cygne in France with Dominique Cecillon and Gray Kunz. In 1990, DiSpirito earned a B.S. in Business from Boston University.

He worked at Adrienne in New York and as Chef de Partie at Aujourd’hui in Boston. DiSpirito then joined Lespinasse’s opening team. In 1997, DiSpirito opened Union Pacific in New York City’s Gramercy Park as Chef and Owner. In 1999, DiSpirito was named Food & Wine’s Best New Chef, and in 2000, Gourmet magazine called him “America’s Most Exciting Young Chef.”

DiSpirito opened Rocco’s 22nd Street in the summer of 2003 while cameras for NBC’s The Restaurant watched and took notes. Later that summer, more than nine million viewers a week tuned in to see the ups and downs of DiSpirito’s family-inspired eatery. The second series aired in the spring of 2004.

DiSpirito is the author of Flavor (Hyperion, October 2003), a unique cook book that breaks down his concept of building dishes on the four basic flavors, making his unique approach to food accessible to the home cook. Rocco’s new show on A&E will air June, 2007 and DiSpirito’s fifth book, Rocco Gets Real will be released in September of 2008 (by Meredith).
